After his arrest, Georgia Mayor Khalid Kamau was charged with burglary in the first degree as well as criminal trespassing.
After entering a property early on Saturday morning, the Mayor of South Fulton, Georgia, was taken into custody. According to him, he believed the house was unoccupied.
Khalid Kamau is being charged with breaking and entering in the first degree as well as criminal trespass. On Saturday evening, he was allowed to leave the Fulton County Jail after paying the required $11,000 bond to be freed.
As he was being released from jail, Kamau addressed the media and said, “I do want to thank the South Fulton police and the staff of officers for their courteous and professional service throughout the day.”
The mayor did not respond to the reporters’ questions about the charges when they were presented to him. The city of South Fulton did not want to comment either on the arrest or the subsequent investigation.
