Former Chelsea forward Tony Cascarino has claimed Gabriel Jesus is a better signing than Richarlison.
The Brazilian duo completed a move to a North London club this week. Tottenham Hotspurs paid £60 million for the 25-year-old Brazilian international from Everton. Richardson was influential last season as Everton survived in the Premier League. The Brazilian international scored 43goals in 135 Premier League appearances for Everton including 10 goals in 30 appearances last season.
Gabriel Jesus on the other hand played a key role as Manchester City won their fourth Premier League title in five years. Jesus scored 58 goals in 159 Premier League appearances including 8 goals in 28 outings last season. Arsenal paid £45 million for the Brazilian forward.
Tony Cascarino believes Gabriel Jesus is a better signing among the two and the Gunner had the best deal.
What did Tony Cascarino say about Richarlison and Gabriel Jesus deals?
The former Chelsea forward said via the weekend breakfast show on talkSPORTS, He said: “Richarlison got ten Premier League goals last season in a team that was fighting relegation.
“Well, the team that finished at the bottom [Norwich], their top goalscorer [Pukki] got 11!
“How many penalties did Richarlison score? Three? Up until January, I think he got about three goals – he had a bit of a run at the end of the season.
“I thought £60m was a massive price and Everton has done brilliantly well to get it.
“I just see a player that goes down too easily, he would upset a lot of Everton fans because he does go to the ground and he does it very regularly in the game.
“I don’t know if he’s a good fit for Spurs. I might be wrong, I might be sitting at the end of the season eating humble pie saying that I got it totally wrong.
“But I don’t see it with Richarlison, and I think that’s a huge fee.”
Cascarino also added Gabriel Jesus will score more goals than his Brazilian compatriots and Arsenal got him at a better price.
He continued: “I think Gabriel Jesus ticks a lot more boxes and they’ve got him at a better price.
“If you asked me now, ‘Who will get the most goals?’ I’d say Gabriel Jesus will get more goals than Richarlison at Tottenham.
“I’d say he’s more versatile than Richarlison too. He has played left-wing, right-wing, and center-forward for Man City.
“He played the left side of the forward line brilliantly well, he’s done several jobs for the team defensively, he’s got an incredible work ethic.
“Every time I watch him, he plays as Richarlison did at the end of the season.
“I didn’t see Richarlison in the early part of the season chasing like he did at the end.”
Arsenal will unveil Gabriel Jesus as their new player next week after completing his medical on Friday. Richarlison had his medical on Friday in Brazil with a representative from Tottenham available.
