Djimon Gaston Hounsou, famously and widely known as Djimon Hounsou on numerous social media platforms and in the entertainment industry, is a well-known Beninese-American actor, film producer, model, and voice actor who hails from Cotonou, Benin. Hounsou was born on April 24, 1964, in Cotonou, Benin, under the zodiac sign Taurus, with the nationality of an American and of black ethnicity. He was born to Albertine and Pierre Hounsou. He has a brother named Edmond Hounsou.
At the age of 12, Hounsou and his brother Edmond emigrated to Lyon, France, and soon after their arrival there, Hounsou dropped out of school and was homeless, living on the streets at that time. He later got a chance to meet with a photographer, which led to an introduction to fashion designer Thierry Mugler, who encouraged Hounsou to pursue a modeling career.
After he met fashion designer Thierry Mugler, he began his modeling career in Paris in 1987, and three years later, he moved to the United States, where he got naturalized to become a citizen of the United States of America.
