According to officials, a Colorado police officer and one suspect were slain Wednesday when a traffic check turned into a shootout.
Sgt. Michael Moran, 46, of the Cortez Police Department, was pulled over on South Broadway shortly before 11:30 a.m. when bullets were fired at him, according to the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office.
Moran was wounded and sent to Southwest Memorial Hospital, where he died.
Following the incident, the suspects escaped in their car. authorities tracked them and immediately apprehended them in the 7500 block of Hwy 160-491, where they fired gunfire with authorities.
