Following an incident, a Halloween attraction was briefly shuttered. Authorities in Tennessee report that a toddler perished in a strange event at a scary hayride attraction over the weekend.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) made the event public on Saturday through a news release. At around 10:45 p.m. on Friday, deputies were dispatched to Harrison, Tennessee’s Haunted Hilltop, a Halloween attraction.
Officials discovered upon their arrival that the child had been driven down by a tractor when he was pulling a practical joke on hay riders.
“Upon arrival, HCSO deputies spoke with a chaperone for a group of juveniles that had been playing near a hay ride tractor route and were behind some bushes trying to scare some hay riders at the Haunted Hilltop Halloween event,” said the HCSO.
“Deputies were told that one of the juveniles had attempted to jump on the trailer and had possibly slipped and fallen underneath the wheels and was found unresponsive.”
When the youngster was twelve, the Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s office reported to the local press. The sheriff’s office sent its condolences to the victim’s family in a news statement.
“The HCSO family extends our thoughts and sympathy to the family of the deceased juvenile, as well as the others who witnessed the tragic event,” stated a statement. “We ask the community [to] also keep this family in their prayers during this difficult time.”
“As this incident pertains to juveniles, no further information is available.”
The Haunted Hilltop requested community prayers and posted on Facebook, announcing that it would be shuttered the next day.
The post on Facebook stated, “We will not be open tomorrow, Saturday, due to the tragic accident that occurred tonight.” “Our Hearts and Prayers go out to the family effected [sic] in this, Please keep us all in your prayers!”
The Haunted Hilltop informed Fox News Digital on Monday night that it is now closed.
The business expressed its “heartbreak and devastation” for the family. “We have not even thought about [reopening] yet, this was a horrific accident.”
