Sources report that Chelsea has rejected a £40 million offer from West Ham United for Conor Gallagher.
The 23-year-old is part of Mauricio Pochettino’s 29-man squad presently on a preseason tour of the United States, where the new head coach has admitted they lack adequate midfield options for the upcoming season.
Gallagher is believed to be available for a fee in the region of £50 million, and it remains to be seen if West Ham will return with a better offer as they seek to replace Declan Rice, who joined Arsenal in a deal worth up to £105 million earlier this month.
Gallagher started 18 Premier League games last season, during which Chelsea rejected an offer from Everton worth approximately £45 million in January.
Tottenham was also previously rumored to be interested.
Moises Caicedo of Brighton is a leading target for Chelsea as they seek to bolster their midfield following the departures of N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mason Mount, and Kai Havertz, in addition to Denis Zakaria’s return to Juventus at the conclusion of his loan spell.
