Beach volleyball is an extremely popular team sports played by teams of six people on a lightly sanded rectangular court, sometimes enclosed with netting. Like indoor volleyball, the main goal of this game is to send the volleyball ball over the net into the opponent’s court and to land it there. When playing beach volleyball you will be playing in either generally known volleyball styles such as point, set, and cover. Other styles of play may also be used. The rules for beach volleyball are the same as those used in regular volleyball but the conditions on the court may be different due to differences in tides and weather.
Most beach volleyball is played on an inside court, with players positioned along both sides of the foul line. However, some teams play on an outside court, either towards the other team or away from it. These teams use three markers positioned along the outside boundary line. Usually, these outside markers are used for keeping score, but also act as a net in case of an accidental collision or if a player goes into the crowd.
Unlike indoor volleyball, which has a defined scoring system, beach volleyball uses a variety of different styles for scoring. Usually, the point system works like this: one point is earned for each volley hit by a player, no matter where it hits the floor. One point is awarded for blocking the other team’s volleyball shot. However, there are variations in how the point system is used. It may be designed to be a tiered system, where players accumulate more points for scoring during the game.
Another difference between indoor and beach volleyball is the number of players permitted on the court at any given time. Indoor volleyball relies on the regulation of four points per team, whereas teams playing Beach volleyball can play as many players as they want, provided they are within an overall maximum of six players per team. This makes the game much more dynamic, with constant changes in strategies and changes in pace. With the exception of very small and/or slow volleyball games, it is very difficult to predict who will win an event unless there is a set of rules in place. However, despite this dynamic aspect of Beach volleyball, many teams enjoy this outdoor-type game because of its ability to encourage team spirit and build friendships.
There is very little doubt that Beach volleyball is a very popular sport both indoors and outdoors. Many professional teams play in beach volleyball arenas throughout the United States. In addition, there are many organized beach volleyball leagues in the Santa Monica area, although the intensity of the game may differ depending on the venue and the group being played. Many professional Beach volleyball teams even play against other internationally competitive teams at various times.
As the popularity of Beach volleyball continues to grow, it is interesting to note that despite its growing popularity, there are many differences between Beach volleyball and traditional indoor volleyball. The primary difference lies in the type of court arrangement, with the two teams using a rectangular-shaped court, rather than a circle or an oval court. The second difference is in the playing style, which is essentially quite different from traditional indoor volleyball. However, even with these differences, Beach Volleyball remains to be a very fun sport to play, and a great way to exercise.
