At least 5 people have been confirmed dead and 24 others injured after a tour bus travelling from Niagara Falls to New York City rolled over in Genesee County, New York, on Friday.
According to New York State Police, the crash, which involved a tractor-trailer and a tour bus carrying 54 people, happened around 12:30 p.m. near mile marker 4039 on the eastbound side of Interstate 90 in Pembroke.

Tpr James O’Callaghan told the media at least five people are dead, and several people are unaccounted for.
Some passengers were ejected from the bus and others were trapped underneath it.
Erie County Medical Centre confirmed it received 24 patients from the crash site, and 20 patients were actively receiving treatment in the emergency department.

According to an ECMC spokesperson, Two patients were in the operating room, and several patients were in the trauma ICU.
Several witnesses said that the bus lost control, crossed over the median and flipped on the shoulder, according to state police.

According to state police, mechanical error, as well as driver impairment and intoxication, has been ruled out. The driver, who told authorities that he was distracted and overcorrected, will not face charges.
The bus was transporting people from China, India, the Middle East, the Philippines, and the United States. As of 5:30 p.m., the bus was flipped upright and the highway was being reopened.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), it’s sending a go-team to investigate. The bus was taken to state police barracks as evidence.
