Kimberly Yee, who is the treasurer of Arizona, said she would take over as acting governor.
Due to Gov. Katie Hobbs’s strange absence, Arizona’s treasurer said on Wednesday night that she would take over as acting governor later this evening and stay in that role until tomorrow morning around noon.
In a news statement posted on X, which used to be called Twitter, Kimberly Yee, the treasurer of Arizona, said that she is “pleased to step into this role.”
The Republican state treasurer said that during her less than 24 hours as acting governor, she would not confirm the 13 departments that still have open positions. Instead, she would wait for the Democratic governor to fill those positions when she came back.
Yee said in an X post, “I’m happy to take on this role, but I won’t name directors for the 13 agencies that don’t have them yet, and I won’t call the Arizona Legislature into session to confirm them.” “That said, I do hope that when the Governor gets back to Arizona, she will quickly name qualified people to lead these important state agencies.”
“I hope this will be settled quickly so we can get to work for Arizona taxpayers,” Yee said.
Yee didn’t say anything about the governor’s absence in her news release, and she didn’t answer Fox News Digital’s question right away. Hobbs also didn’t answer Fox News Digital’s request for feedback right away.
