The murder of Jailyn Jones, according to the authorities, is part of a disturbing “younger trend” involving killings committed by individuals younger than the age of 18 in the United States.
It had been many weeks since a friend from high school vanished and was discovered dead in a creek with several stab wounds a few days later. The creek was shallow. A young man from Maryland, who is currently 17 years old, has been charged with murder.

Jones was also present at the press conference. The teenager’s mother had reported him missing in the days immediately up to his disappearance, and footage from the doorbell camera showed him leaving his mother’s house at 4:30 on the evening of January 21.
