Officials in Gary have announced that the remains of a lady who had gone missing had been discovered on Wednesday.
Ariana Taylor, a 23-year-old woman who went missing on April 2 has not been seen or heard from since. She was last seen between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Saturday, according to Taylor’s mother, who claims Ariana informed her that she was going out with friends that evening.
On Sunday, Gary police officers were dispatched to an accident site at the I-65 and I-80/94 interstate interchanges. According to authorities, a vehicle fled the road and smashed into a bridge below.
Taylor was meant to be the last person to leave the car, according to the vehicle’s owner, who spoke to police. Since then, no one has heard from her, and she was officially declared missing on Sunday.
Gary police announced during a news conference on Wednesday that Taylor’s remains had been discovered earlier in the day and that her mother had been contacted.
After several days of searching by police and family members, one of the department’s K9 handlers discovered her body in a small drainage ditch near the crash site on Wednesday afternoon.
Taylor’s mother was positively recognized by police as her daughter on Wednesday afternoon. The autopsy, which will be performed on Thursday, will not reveal the exact cause of death.
Because of the continuing investigation, police would to comment on whether foul play is suspected, although they did say they are not currently looking for any prospective suspects.
