A 22-year-old man is accused of assault in the first degree against Luis Alberto Escolastico Canela.

A man from Oakland Park, Florida, has been brought into jail on suspicion of shooting another man in the face while brandishing a machete.

Luis Alberto Escolastico Canela, age 22, is charged with attempted first-degree murder. He is suspected of shooting at another person. According to the data from the jail, he is being kept without the possibility of bail.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office released a video of the horrific incident earlier this week and requested the assistance of the general public in identifying the person responsible for the shooting.

The Oakland Park police department reports that the incident took place around 1:50 a.m. on June 6 in front of the 7-Eleven store located at 3800 North Andrews Avenue.
