Go to any decent-sized city in the United States and you’re bound to encounter at least one, and likely multiple, Starbucks locations. If you think that is overwhelming, just wait. Colorado has three times as many recreational cannabis dispensary locations as they do Starbucks locations.

The benefits of recreational cannabis not only go to the people who enjoy it. They extend to the local economies that these dispensaries are located in as well as the state’s economy.

4. Cannabis Legalization Has Decreased Teen Cannabis Use

Studies at the Washington University School of Medicine have discovered that the use of recreational cannabis among teens has fallen drastically over the past decade. This is despite the fact that an increasing number of states are legalizing both medical and recreational cannabis.

5. DUIs and Traffic Arrests Do Not Increase When Recreational Cannabis Is Legalized

Studies have shown that traffic arrests and DUIs actually drop in states that have legalized recreational cannabis. The average drop in these incidents is over 10 percent. This shows that legalizing recreational cannabis might actually make the roads safer.

Studies conducted at the University of Oregon discovered that when recreational cannabis is legalized in an area, it tends to make it a safer area to travel and live.
