According to NATO chief Mark Rutte, he told President Volodymyr Zelensky that he needs to find a way to restore his relationship with President Donald Trump after the White House clash on Friday.
Commenting on a call he had with Zelensky on Friday, Rutte told the BBC that “it is important that President Zelensky finds a way to restore his relationship with the American president and with the senior American leadership team.” Rutte described the meeting at the White House as ‘unfortunate.’.
Rutte’s dire warning to the Ukrainian president came as Zelensky clashed with Trump and Vice President JD Vance in the Oval Office about the terms of a potential cease-fire with Russia.
Tempers escalated on all sides, with Trump threatening to abandon Ukraine if Zelensky refused to agree to his peace proposals.

Trump and Vance also constantly accused Zelensky of not being appreciative of America’s ongoing military backing for Ukraine, which is estimated to be worth around $100 billion.
Zelensky showed Trump pictures of his country’s damage while claiming he had thanked the American people for their assistance.
Zelensky was set off when Vance claimed Trump was attempting to engage in diplomacy, whereas President Joe Biden was unable to prevent Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine and spent four years ‘talking tough about Vladimir Putin.’
