Yang won the Korea Open in 2006, earning him a spot on the European Tour and propelling him into the top 40 of the Official World Golf Ranking. He debuted on the PGA Tour in 2008, winning his first championship at the 2009 Honda Classic.
In 2009, he won the 91st PGA event, becoming the first Asian-born male golfer to win a major event.
