According to the police, the 27-year-old had initially lied about the boyfriend’s death.
A woman once thought to be a victim of a home invasion that killed her boyfriend was arrested for murder by California authorities.
On September 12, Pleasanton police arrested Kennedy Stith, 27, in connection to an investigation into the death of her boyfriend, 32-year-old Edevion White. His body was found dead on May 1, 2023, in the 5700 block of Owens Drive.
In a statement, authorities identified the woman as 27-year-old and said she first lied when she claimed the boyfriend was murdered by two guys wearing ski masks. She reportedly told KTVU that the two killed him by breaking into their flat.
“But through a year-long investigation, Pleasanton detectives determined this claim was untrue,” they said.
She was then indicted for murder on Friday by the office of the district attorney for Alameda County.
According to the story, police say that in their home on Owens and Rosewood Drive, Stith stabbed White in the chest fatally. Pleasanton police said Stith fabricated the house invasion story and arrested her on suspicion of murder on Friday.
“The City of Pleasanton extends its most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Edevion White and are fully supporting them through this difficult time,” police said. “We appreciate the community’s understanding and cooperation while we investigate this matter further as we continue to stay dedicated to community safety.”
