The Manhattan District Attorney’s office made the announcement on Friday that the lady who pled guilty to the murder of an 87-year-old New York City voice coach had been sentenced to an 8.5-year sentence in prison. The victim’s age was not disclosed in the announcement.
On March 10, 2022, in Manhattan, Lauren Pazienza shoved Barbara Gustern, who was 87 years old at the time. Five days after Gustern’s passing, the authorities made the determination that he had died as a result of brain trauma brought on by a blow to the head.
After serving his time in jail, Pazienza was placed on a sentence of probation that would last for five years. Her attorney, Arthur Aidala, did not immediately return a phone requesting a comment on the situation.
On the day of the event, Pazienza allegedly hurled obscenities at Gustern, pushed her to the ground, and then crossed the street after the incident. This information comes from the office of the District Attorney. She was located and arrested on Long Island, where she had taken refuge with her family about two weeks after the occurrence of the crime.
After suffering a fall, the office of the district attorney asserts that Gustern suffered from left-sided cerebral hemorrhaging. After being taken to the hospital, she fell into a coma, and her life support was disconnected after five days. On the sixth day, a medical examiner ruled that she had passed away.
In accordance with a statement that was issued by the office of the District Attorney on the 23rd of August, Pazienza agreed into a plea deal in which he accepted his guilt to manslaughter in the first degree.
In a statement that was issued to NBC News, the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg claimed that the “sudden and violent death” of Barbara Gustern was caused by Lauren Pazienza. “Barbara Gustern’s death has left a family and community in mourning,” he added. Even though there is nothing that will bring her back, my hope and prayer is that the culmination of these proceedings will provide some piece of mind to her family.
