Career
Blue Chip, Super Prep, and Tom Lemming magazines recognized him as an All-American in football. McGinest was named to several all-star teams as a linebacker in 1989, including all-city, all-state, and all-region. As a senior, he registered 107 tackles, 18 pressures, two fumble recoveries, four pass safeguards, an interception, and four blocks. 2009 saw McGinest inducted into the Poly Football Hall of Fame. During the 1989–1990 season, he averaged 14 points per game and was named “Best in the West” by the Long Beach Press-Telegram. He was also called All-CIF Southern Section and All-Liga.
College Career
Willie played football at the University of Southern California from 1990 to 1993. He gained All-Conference and All-American honors three years in a row.
