The 24-year-old joined Chelsea under 8 in 2016. He progressed through the ranks at Chelsea winning the FA youth and the UEFA Youth League.
Tomori made 17 appearances for Chelsea before joining AC Milan on loan in 2021. After impressing on loan at AC Milan, the deal was made permanent after AC Milan exercised the £25 million option.
Fikayo Tomori has emerged as one of the best defenders in Serie A and Europe. The 24-year-old had now extended his contract with the Rossoneri till 2027.
However, William Gallas has revealed that he does not understand why Chelsea let Fikayo Tomori leave.
What did Willaim Gallas say?
The former Chelsea and Arsenal defender said on Genting Casino: “I don’t know why Chelsea let him go; I don’t know the reason.
“I have followed him since his move and he is a player that has a great capacity to play as a center-back.
“For him, it was very important for him to play, learn and gradually improve. As a young player, sometimes people think you are ready to go straight in, which isn’t always the case.
“Defenders are not like strikers, they need more time to develop and learn. He went to AC Milan and has had a massive impact on the team.
“He will feel very good there, so when he comes back to Stamford Bridge, he will be a little bit emotional and he will want to show the club that they made the wrong decision in letting him go.
“It will be interesting to see how he gets on.”
Meanwhile, William Gallas has hailed William Saliba after his impressive performance against Tottenham.
Gallas said: “I thought Saliba was excellent. He was very strong in his performance and focused, and he won all of his individual battles and duels.
“For his age, the maturity that he showed in his performance was very good. If he continues to do what he does, then he has a very bright future in the game.
“He seems to be getting better with every game.
“I think with the way things are going for him, if he continues with this development, then he can become one of the top defenders.
“I wouldn’t be surprised to see him nominated for the Young Player of the Year award because he has been that good.
“As I’ve said recently, I still think he needs to have one top-class defender to partner him to take him to an even higher level.
“Sometimes you need to learn from someone and at the moment, he doesn’t have that at Arsenal.
“I think Gabriel is playing well. He plays with a lot of intensity and is improving, but Saliba can’t learn from him.
“Saliba needs an experienced player next to him and he will become even better. I love what he is doing for Arsenal.”
Fikayo Tomori will return to Stamford Bridge when Chelsea faces AC Milan in the Champions League.
