Why Security Is Important When Building A Website
SHARE

In recent months, more websites have been hacked than ever before. Whether a person or corporation is preparing to build a website, it is pertinent to do so cautiously. Otherwise, there is a good chance that they’re going to leave their server vulnerable to potential hackers. It is pertinent to prevent this from happening. If the business doesn’t, they might face a hefty lawsuit from angry customers. Businesses can never tell when hackers are going to focus on their websites. Thankfully, there are numerous things they can do to protect their websites and visitors.

Below, readers will learn a great deal more about the importance of security when building a new website.

Recent Hacks

Unfortunately, website hackers are growing in popularity. One month ago, it was revealed that Tesco’s website and app were hacked. During the outage, consumers in the UK were unable to alter existing orders and book deliveries. The company’s IT team worked around the clock to restore the website and app. Nevertheless, the biggest supermarket chain was targeted by hackers attempting to interfere with its systems. It was not believed that customers were impacted. Earlier this month, it was announced that a British news website was hacked so the hackers could control the computers of readers.

The attack installed malicious software on the website to infect the computers of visitors. Finally, an Israeli LGBT website was hacked by suspected Iranian hackers. Users were worried that their personal information could be leaked.

Suffice to say, hacking is becoming a serious problem around the world with more people shopping, dating, and doing business online. The trend is likely going to continue and worsen in the months to come. In another hack, Iranian hackers were charged with alleged voter intimidation after hacking a state election site.

GoDaddy Hack

Unfortunately, it isn’t only the big websites that get hacked. Earlier this month, web hosting giant GoDaddy confirmed its servers had been breached by hackers. As a result, the company warned that data belonging to more than 1.2 million customers might’ve been accessed. Chief Information Security Officer for GoDaddy later confirmed that the company had discovered unauthorized access to its WordPress site hosting services. It later said the attacker used a compromised password to gain access to the systems on or around September 6.

The company serves more than 20 million customers around the world. It hasn’t said much else about the security breach.

Protecting A Website

When someone wants to รับทำเว็บไซต์, it is pertinent for them to protect that website. Otherwise, their website could be hacked and their information could be stolen. Therefore, it is wise to work with a professional site builder when launching a website. A professional will always take steps to ensure that the website is protected with the latest security technologies. In addition to this, users should try taking advantage of the tips below to protect their users.

Updates

First, users should begin updating their plugins and software regularly. Failing to do so will lead to vulnerabilities on the website. Suffice to say, this shouldn’t be allowed to happen. Plugins are updated to ensure that they’re safe. It is wise for website owners to use auto-updating software to guarantee that they’re using the latest plugins. Doing so will further protect the website and its users.

Using HTTP & SSL

Another thing to note is that all modern websites should be using HTTPS and SSL technology. Both are incredibly important because they’ll protect the information of visitors. SSL helps encrypt the information so it won’t fall into the wrong hands later on. It is also a good idea to use HTTPS to make the website safer.

Picking A Password

In addition to this, website owners are going to be using multiple passwords. Your content management system will likely have an admin username and password. It is pertinent to use a strong password to prevent someone from guessing it easily. It is a good idea to use a combination of letters, numbers, symbols, and more. Doing so will make a big difference in the long run.
