More than five tons of trash were unlawfully dumped on the side of a road in the Florida Keys, and a Florida man has been charged with the crime.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, an investigation into the large trash heap near Big Pine, Florida, began earlier this month and resulted in the identification of the culprit.
According to the arrest report obtained by USA TODAY, officers contacted 65-year-old Benjamin Scott Holroyd on Friday, October 6th. He claimed possession of the large waste heap, according to the newspaper.
According to the sheriff’s office, Holroyd was arrested and charged with felony illegal dumping. He was released from jail without posting bond on Saturday, October 7th. It took some time for us to find out who was representing him in court.
Monroe County Solid Waste carted away roughly 10,380 pounds of waste.
