According to authorities, Jaden Hays, 27, attempted to elude them by swimming into the Columbia River in Oregon.
Authorities say a suspect in a robbery and assault in Washington led them on a high-speed automobile pursuit into Oregon, where he attempted to flee by swimming into a river. The guy was taken into custody on Monday.
According to the Longview Police Department, Jaden Hays, 27, was sought for an incident that occurred on June 25 in Longview, Washington, and was related to first-degree robbery and fourth-degree assault.
According to FOX12 Oregon, Hays allegedly threatened to harm a family member while stealing their belongings.
At Miller’s Market in Longview, officers noticed Hays’ black Volkswagen at approximately 8 p.m. on Monday and made an attempt at a criminal traffic stop. Authorities said that Hays, however, quickly left the scene.
