An Uber driver allegedly showed a lady sexually graphic photos and almost abducted her.
A woman from Central California said that her Uber driver attempted to abduct her and showed her pictures of himself in his underwear while they were driving, turning the journey into a nightmare.
The event took place in downtown Clovis, a Fresno suburb, on Sunday afternoon.
According to Ty Wood, the public information officer for the Clovis Police Department, who verified the story to Fox News Digital, officers were called to a Clovis junction at 12:30 p.m. in response to a probable sexual crime allegation.
According to Wood, the victim, an adult woman, complained that she felt uncomfortable being questioned about her personal life by an Uber driver.
The 20-year-old victim then claimed that the Uber driver had shown her a sexually suggestive picture on his phone at some point during the journey, according to Wood.
“He pulled out his phone, and he pulled out a picture of him, his private area, him touching himself and, like, and I saw it, like, my eyes just got really big because I was really scared,” the victim stated in a KSEE24 interview. “I thought, ‘What the heck?'” And I immediately started saying, “No, no, please, just let me out, please,” at that point.
A family friend told Fox News Digital that she thought he was trying to kidnap her, confirming the accusation.
After that, the victim informed police that she believed he was attempting to lock her inside the vehicle, but she managed to escape the Uber driver’s vehicle and fled when they were stopped by a red light.
“She calls me in a panic, saying she believes she was nearly abducted. This is what this naive girl was thinking about on a Sunday afternoon as she was only attempting to make it to the manicure salon. Her companion told Fox News Digital, “I was so bothered by this and couldn’t believe it happened.”
“I just escaped for my life because I was afraid. The victim described it as the most terrifying experience she had ever experienced.
The victim’s close pals posted a message on Instagram featuring the Uber driver, identifying him or her as “FNU,” which stands for “First Name Unavailable.”
“Hello everyone, today we would want to raise awareness about this local predator. The post added, “He tried to kidnap our friend, avoided her destination, held her against her will in his car, and engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior.”
Although Wood stated that the investigation is still underway, the department received a call from a lawyer who is currently the driver’s representative.
The victim’s friends also claimed Uber reimbursed the victim for her ride and expressed regret for the incident. “He is no longer wanted for questioning, and, at this time, the case is being forwarded to the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office,” Wood said. Uber also provided a statement to Fox News Digital regarding the matter, acknowledging that it was aware of the case and takes reports like this seriously. “The rider’s report is deeply concerning. We have removed this driver’s access to the app while we continue to investigate. We stand ready to assist law enforcement with their investigation,” an Uber spokesperson announced.
