Authorities are aware of eight casualties, including two fatalities, following a suspect’s early Friday morning shooting in Orlando, Florida, according to Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith, who also announced that the 17-year-old suspect had been placed under arrest.
He said six patients who were treated for treatment were stable.
A 17-year-old suspect has been arrested, according to Smith. He named the suspect as Jaylen Dwayne Edgar.
He mentioned that the defendant was seized for grand theft in 2023.
According to Smith, the victims are between the ages of 19 and 39.
Officers reported gunfire along Central Boulevard and Orange Avenue at around 1:07 a.m. Minutes after that, a second shot-fire incident was made on Orange, south of Washington Street.
Additionally, he played body cam footage of the cop apprehending the suspect.
The Orlando Police Department reports that two males, ages 25 and 19, were among the deceased victims.
A 20-year-old man was grazed in the head, a 26-year-old man was shot in his right foot, a 19-year-old woman was shot in her upper back, with it lodged in her cheek, a 39-year-old woman was shot in her left hand, a 24-year-old woman was shot in her left leg, and an 18-year-old man was shot in his lower left leg, according to the Orlando Police Department.
According to the Orlando Police Department, there was a ninth victim who was not mentioned during the news conference. She was a 26-year-old woman who was crushed as people tried to flee.
