The Trump team has more than $37.5 million in the bank, with only three and a half months until the Iowa caucuses.
Former President Donald Trump seems to be getting stronger as the clear front-runner in the race for the Republican nomination for president in 2024, thanks to another big cash quarter.
Trump’s presidential campaign said Wednesday night that it raised a huge $45.5 million from July to September.
The former president’s political team said at the end of last month that they had more than $37.5 million in their campaign funds.
Trump has raised more money in the last three months than he did from April to June, when he raised about $35 million. That was almost double what he raised in the first quarter of the year.
“The Q3 numbers are even more amazing when you consider that most campaigns have less money coming in during the summer. “This idea has been completely busted by President Trump and his campaign,” the campaign said in an email release.
Three and a half months remain until the Iowa caucuses start the 2024 GOP presidential nomination process. In the most recent national polls and important early state polls, Trump is far ahead of his many opponents.
During the spring and summer, Trump’s lead grew as he became the first past or current president in U.S. history to be charged with a crime. Trump’s four indictments, including ones in federal court in Washington, D.C., and in Fulton County court in Georgia on charges that he tried to overturn his 2020 presidential election loss, have only increased his support among Republican voters in polls and fundraising.
The campaign for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said earlier on Wednesday that he had raised $15 million in the last three months. But DeSantis’ numbers were lower than the $20 million he raised in the second quarter.
In a press statement, Trump’s campaign took aim at DeSantis for what they called the governor’s “exponential drop” in fundraising.
Fundraising and polling are crucial ways to figure out how strong and popular a politician is with the people. Money raised through fundraising can be used to build up a candidate’s campaign organization, reach out to people on the ground, encourage people to vote, and pay for travel and ads.
