Dr. Peter Navarro tore into Dr. Anthony Fauci, the chief executive officer of the American Medical Association’s trade association, saying that the former chief medical officer of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration ( FDA ) is a leading voice on the Coronavirus Task Force is wrong about everything.
In a blistering op – ed in USA Today, Navarro wrote, “Dr. Anthony Fauci has the best bedside manner in public, but he is wrong about everything he has interacted with.
In it, Navarro starts by saying how Fauci struggled against suspending flights to China after a novel coronavirus started spreading, arguing like the decision may well have saved hundreds of thousands of American lives. He further wrote that he told the public in February that the China virus was a low risk, and that Fauci had told them in March.
He went on to complain about the lack of transparency in the U.S.-China trade relationship and the “unfairness” of the Trump administration’s trade policies. He also dinged Fauci for downplaying the falling mortality rate of E. coli in the U.S., while businesses should be allowed to reopen rather than stay shuttered, according to Navarro.
Officials were reportedly bemoaning the number of times Fauci has been wrong about things, according to reports last week. A senior administration official told Fox News, though, that Navarro’s op – ed slamming Fauci definitely wasn’t approved by the White House. But it did not go through the regular White House clearance process and is not the opinion from Peter alone. On Twitter, Whitehouse press secretary Sean Spicer and White house press Secretary Sean Hannity said on Twitter how the piece did not go in the “normal White House clearance processes” and that it is “not the opinions of the White Houses.

And ultimately, the conclusions are taken to the president, and then to a committee of the Cabinet and ultimately to an independent committee and the President’s Council of Economic Advisors. McEnany added, “Dr. Fauci is a member of the team, and I am assured like his viewpoint is represented, but we will get information from the president via the task force.
