Wednesday, July 30, 2025, was a sad day for fans of Ozzy Osbourne all over the world as the heavy metal legend was laid to rest.
The world knew him as the “Prince of Darkness.” On July 22, Ozzy Osbourne died at the age of 76, having been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019. Earlier that month, on July 5, he thrilled a sold-out crowd at Villa Park in Birmingham, performing his final gig with Black Sabbath.
Fans packed Birmingham’s Broad Street as Ozzy’s final funeral procession made its way to a canal bridge named in Black Sabbath’s honor. Family members, including his wife, Sharon, and their children, Jack, Kelly, and Aimee, took flowers and tributes from the huge crowd.
The Osbourne family arrived with a pink rose package, wrapped in black paper and tied with a purple ribbon, to honor their loved one.
The fans present at the procession chant “Ozzy! Ozzy! Ozzy!” with some crying and saying, “We love you, Ozzy!”

A 31-year-old carer who had travelled from the central city of Nottingham to participate in the procession said, “I’ve been a fan as long as I can remember, and I raised my son to do the same. He was just nuts, a little bit weird, but it’s wonderful to have someone like this.”
Another fan, Reece Sargeant, said, “I think it was important to come and pay our respects … Ozzy and Black Sabbath really put Birmingham on the map.”

Zafar Iqbal, the lord mayor of the central English city, in his tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, said, “Ozzy was more than a music legend—he was a son of Birmingham.
“It was important to the city that we support a fitting, dignified tribute ahead of a private family funeral.
“We’re proud to host it here with his loving family in the place where it all began,” said Iqbal, who could be seen hugging family members when the procession stopped in central Birmingham.”
