Manchester United are expected to sign a striker in the summer following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. Manchester United signed Wout Weghorst on loan in January, but the Dutch international’s lack of goals is a course of concern.
Two elite strikers expected to be available during the summer are England captain Harry Kane and Napoli and Nigerian international Victor Osimhen. The two strikers have already scored over 40-plus goals this season.
Victor Osimhen is currently the top goal scorer in the Italian Serie A with 19 goals and fired Napoli to their first-ever Champions League quarter-finals after scoring a brace against Eintracht Frankfurt. The Nigerian is expected to leave Napoli this season, and several English clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United, are keen on signing him.
Harry Kane is are expected to move this summer following another trophyless season with Tottenham. He has currently scored 20 Premier League goals; only Erling Haaland has more {28}.
Premier League legend Theirry Henry has urged Manchester United to sign Harry Kane because he already knows the Premier and, therefore, will need less time to adopt.
What did Thierry Henry Say?
He told CBS Sport: “Personally, if I’m Man United, I go, Kane, because he knows the Premier League.
“Looking at Kane, this guy doesn’t need to adapt to anything. He has a way of dropping deep that would allow Marcus Rashford to run in behind.
“Kane can play anywhere, and he can adapt to any team – well, except Arsenal!
“That doesn’t mean Osimhen is not a good player; it has nothing to do with that. I think he’s going to go wherever he wants to go. He can adapt to a lot of sides and any league.
“When you play for a team like Napoli, everything comes to him. But it’s a different ball game when you play in a front three. Balls are not always going to you at a big club with three big guys up top.
“That’s what I want to see: How he reacts when he’s not the only focal point. But other than that he has everything. He can hold the ball up well, he can run into the channel, he can finish well with his head, with his foot.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United Icon Paul Scholes believes Victor Osimhen will fit in well at Chelsea.
He said on BT Sport: “There are other players out there like Osimhen.
“With Osimhen, I haven’t seen loads of him but I see him more of a Drogba type, possibly more of a Chelsea type. Is he going to get those type of crosses United? That’s the thing.”
Paul Scholes doubts whether Tottenham will let Harry Kane leave the club in the summer.
He added: “I just don’t think Kane will move from Tottenham at this point.
“I think its tricky business dealing with Tottenham and Daniel Levy, he could string you along right until the very end of the window and leave you with nothing.”
