After months of standoff between the world’s two biggest economic partners, the United States and the European Union have finally reached a trade deal.
The negotiations were spearheaded by the president of the United States, Donald Trump, and the president of the European Union, Ursula von der Leyen, in Scotland. The two great leaders agreed on a US tariff on all EU goods of 15%.
The new 15% tariff is half of the 30% import tax President Trump wanted to introduce on Friday. Both leaders expressed excitement about the new deal.
Trump told reporters, “It was a very interesting negotiation. I think it’s going to be great for both parties.” He added, “biggest deal ever made.”
Ursula von der Leyen reacting to the deal: ““bring stability” and “bring predictability that’s very important for our businesses on both sides of the Atlantic.”
