The body of a 24-year-old woman who went missing after leaving work on Friday was discovered in a waste compactor in the basement of a luxury apartment complex, according to the New York Police Department. According to the authorities, no foul play is suspected based on the preliminary investigation.
The lady, named as Jaclyn Elmquist, a Brooklyn resident, was discovered shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Friday after police responded to a 911 call at a Manhattan apartment complex.
“Upon arrival, officers discovered a 24-year-old female unconscious and unresponsive in the garbage compactor in the basement of the building,” according to the New York City Police Department.
Elmquist was declared dead at the scene, according to authorities.
Elmquist was not a resident of the building, therefore police could not say how she ended herself there.
Elmquist’s family members posted a “Missing” sign for her on social media on Friday, stating they hadn’t heard from her since she left a work party in Manhattan.
Elmquist, who was originally from Minnesota, was last seen getting into a yellow taxi at Catch Steakhouse, according to the ad.
‘No criminal activity is suspected.’
According to preliminary investigations, the deceased’s injuries suggest that the victim may have fallen down the garbage chute, and “no criminality is suspected at this time,” according to the NYPD.
According to the police, a medical examiner will identify the cause of death, and an investigation into the accident is underway.
