Donald Trump, the presumed presidential candidate, will meet with current House Republicans in Washington. As American voters have opted to maintain familiar faces in Washington, the four progressive Democrats who make up the “Squad”, including Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, easily won reelection.
House Republicans won the 4th Congressional District in Louisiana with Speaker Mike Johnson, the 1st Congressional District in Louisiana with Majority Leader Steve Scalise, and the 21st Congressional District in New York with Republican Conference Chairman Elise Stefanik.
In the 8th Congressional District of New York, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries emerged victorious. The people of California’s 11th District elected Nancy Pelosi to her 20th term.
The “Squad” also prevailed in their uncontested reelection campaigns: Rashida Tlaib in Michigan, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in New York, Ilhan Omar in Minnesota, and Ayanna Pressley in Massachusetts.
Rep. Chip Roy won the 21st Congressional District in Texas, while Jim Jordan and James Comer, the leaders of the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees, respectively, prevailed in Kentucky and Ohio.
Notable Democrats are also returning to Washington for the Senate.
Adam Schiff prevailed in the contest for Dianne Feinstein’s former seat in California, and Elizabeth Warren was re-elected in Massachusetts.
Bernie Sanders, an independent, won a fourth term in Vermont.
For Republicans, Josh Hawley won his election in Missouri, and Ted Cruz defeated Colin Allred in a fierce contest in Texas.
