A security analyst, Adam Bonah, has lambasted government for linking weapons discovered at Alajo to a plan attempt by some persons to overthrow the government.

A joint security operation on Friday led to the retrieval of several arms, explosive devices and ammunition from locations in Accra and Kpone-Bawaleshie in Dodowa.

Personnel drawn from Defence Intelligence of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), conducted a successful operation which led to the arrest of three persons.

The joint operation was to neutralize an elaborate plot targeted at the Presidency, and with the ultimate aim of destabilizing the country.

The arrest and seizure come after fifteen (15) months of surveillance and gathering of evidence on the activities of the prime suspects and others.

The persons arrested are Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm and his two accomplices – Mr. Ezor Kafui (a local weapon manufacturer) and Mr. Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu (aka BB or ADC).

Super Morning Show on Joy FM, Mr. Bonah said the government was wrong to conclude the suspects want to take power which according to him the weapons retrieved from them speak otherwise.

“These guns cannot even hunt [squirrels and rats] in the Dodowa Forest; I’m being very honest with you,” he told of the SMS, Daniel Dazdie.

He believes such statements can scare away investors admonishing government to draw closer to Former President Jerry John Rawlings who has been successful with more coups and can throw more light on how a coup is organised since weapons found to be of an alleged attamot to overthrow the Akufo-Addo led administration can not even kill a rat.

“If for nothing at all they should have checked with [former president] J.J Rawlings, the ‘father of all coups’…they should [consult] him…Most of those who ended the 1979 coup are still alive, they should ask them.”

But, Information Minister, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah revealed on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Tuesday, September 24th, 2019 that the government is privy have Audio visuals and video evidence to confirm their claim.

“For us, we are pleased that the state security agencies did not wait for it to get too late…We have informed the nation and the next step will be that they [security agencies] would have to complete their interrogations and their investigations and take it before a competent body to adjudicate this matter.”
