A group of pro-life obstetricians and gynecologists has criticized what they call an “unprecedented interference into the doctor-patient relationship.”
Pro-life obstetricians and gynecologists are sounding the alarm because the medical board that certifies OBGYNs in the United States and Canada has threatened to remove providers’ certification due to “misinformation and disinformation” concerning abortion and COVID-19. This has prompted the medical board that certifies OBGYNs to issue a warning.
The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) will examine allegations of the dissemination of misinformation and disinformation, as said in a statement that was posted on Thursday. “that may threaten the patients we serve or public health,” the statement read.
According to a statement released by ABOG, the dissemination of false material or misinformation that has the potential to be detrimental to the health of patients constitutes a breach of professional standards in the medical field. Diplomates run the risk of having their certification revoked if the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) determines that they are not satisfying the requirements that they have committed to fulfilling and that the public requires and expects of them.
There is a widespread fear among pro-life OB/GYNs that their board certification may be lost if they were to warn their patients about the risks associated with having an abortion.
