In its statement, the church referred to the two victims as “community members” of the Cornerstone Church where the attack took place.
A statement to this effect was released by the Story County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday evening in Ames, Iowa. According to the statement, three persons had been shot and killed outside of a church. It is believed that the alleged shooter was one of the deceased.

A person who has not been identified opened fire on two female victims just before 7 p.m. local time, according to Captain Nicholas A. Lennie, who stated that the incident took place in front of the Cornerstone Church, which is located on US-30.

The Cornerstone Church has issued a statement in which it identifies the victims as “two young members of our Cornerstone Church community.” The statement was made public after the news of the tragedy broke.
