Fast Car Charger

A good USB vehicle charger can charge your phone and other gadgets faster than the one that came with your car for a few dollars. After testing over 60 models, we’ve found that the dual-port FLY-LEAD 55W Type-C Car Charger is the best car charger. On its USB-C port, you can charge phones, tablets, and laptops quickly, while concurrently charging a second phone on its USB-A port. There is no other charger that provides as much power for a lower price.

How Fast Charging Works

Amperage x Voltage = Watts

Amperage, voltage, and watts are the three essential components of charging. The quantity of electricity flowing from the battery to your phone or other connected device is measured in amperage (or current). The current’s speed or strength is measured in voltage. Amperage multiplied by voltage equals watts. A watering hose is a popular comparison. The hose width is measured in amperage (or current), the water pressure is measured in voltage, and the amount of water coming from the hose is measured in watts.

Types of Fast Charging Standards

USB Power Delivery (aka USB-PD) and Qualcomm Quick Charge are the first and most widely used rapid charging protocols. You may be familiar with TurboPower, Adaptive Fast Charging, or SuperCharge in addition to these. Many of these are Qualcomm Quick Charge-based devices that have been rebranded for marketing purposes. Similarly, Apple’s gadgets use the USB-PD standard, so your iPhone will work with any USB Power Delivery charger or connection.

Is fast charging safe?

These technologies enable your smartphone to charge at a faster rate than regular charging speeds; but, your phone and charger may grow heated when charging. Use high-quality chargers and cords with the necessary certifications to ensure that you’re constantly charging safely. Fast charging is just as safe as conventional charging when properly certified accessories are used.

Avoid Buying the Wrong USB Car Charger

If you don’t know what kind of charger port you need, here’s a quick explanation:

There are four kinds of car chargers:

  1. USB-A to Lightning (iPhone)
  2. USB-A to Micro-USB (older Android)
  3. USB-C to USB-C (newer Android)
  4. Wireless charging car charger (Some Android models and iPhone 8-series or newer)

Avoid Buying the Wrong Fast Charging Standard

“Fast charging” is a feature that allows phones like the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy S9 to charge at a faster rate than usual. But there’s a catch: you’ll also need a special rapid charger (typically sold separately).

That’s where everything can go awry. USB-C fast car charger Power Delivery and Qualcomm’s Quick Charge are two rapid charging technologies that are incompatible with one another.

In general, Power Delivery is used by iPhones (8th generation and newer), LG, and Google Pixels. Quick Charge is used by the majority of Android phones, particularly those from Samsung. The two standards may, however, become compatible in the near future.
