If you ask every cricket fan around the globe, they would tell you “Lords” is the birthplace of cricket. Lords is known as “The Home of Cricket” for a reason. It is the planet’s oldest cricket ground. This year marks the 209th anniversary of its founding in 1814.

It is located in St. Johns Wood, London, and is encircled by numerous tourist attractions, yet it is a must-see while visiting the city. The stadium has a history. It has held several cricket matches and is well-known for hosting the Ashes Test series. The World Cup final will be held at Lords. It has a maximum capacity of 30,000 people.

Top 2: Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australia

Locals refer to it by the acronym MCG, and it is found in Melbourne, the globe’s Sporting Capital and Most Liveable City. Despite its name and construction for the game of cricket, this stadium is host to two professional cricket groups, the Australian National Cricket Team, and four professional Aussie Rules Football clubs.

It accommodates a variety of sporting events. It has previously held the Olympic and Commonwealth Games. The venue is well known in cricket for hosting the Boxing Day Test. Apart from that, the stadium is one of the ten largest in the entire world, having a seating capacity of 100,000 people.

Top 3: Kensington Oval, Barbados

This oval was constructed in 1871, making it around 150 years old. This stadium is known as “the Mecca” of cricket in the area. It has played host to several cricket competitions, including the 2007 CWC and the 2010 T20 EC.

The stadium has also garnered honors, including the Institution of Structural Engineers’ 2010

Award for Sports or Leisure Structures. It is home to two professional organizations from the United States. It is the planet’s greatest cricket stadium, including a Jacuzzi-style pool and a Jumbo screen for people to unwind and enjoy a match.

Top 4: Newlands Cricket Ground, South Africa

The stadium is situated between the popular tourist sites of Table Mountain and Devil’s Peak. The Cape Cobras live there. It has a rich history, having been founded in 1889 and hosting several international test series.

Before the renovation, this venue had different seating sections with grassy knolls and views from the stadium, enabling cricket to be performed in the most attractive of settings.

Top 5: Narendra Modi Stadium, India

The Narendra Modi Stadium, previously referred to by the name Sardar Patel Stadium, is the globe’s largest cricket stadium, seating approximately 1.3 lakh people.

It was constructed in 1982 in Ahmedabad and restored and enlarged in 2020.

The cricket field is approximately 25.4 hectares in size, with four entrances, six indoor training pitches, and three outdoor practice grounds. It contains an indoor cricket academy with a dormitory for 40 players, making it one of India’s rare cricket stadiums.

In addition, it took place at this stadium that the famous Sachin Tendulkar became the first batter in international cricket history to achieve 30,000 runs in 2013.

In February 1994, the stadium watched Kapil Dev take his 432nd Test wicket, breaking Sir Richard Hadlee’s career record.

Top 6: Eden Gardens, India

Eden Gardens, with a total capacity of approximately 80,000, serves as one of the most iconic cricket venues in the entire globe.

The cricket field held the inaugural Test from January 5 to 8, 1934, and its maiden ODI between India and Pakistan on February 18, 1987. The most recent Test match played here was between India and the West Indies from November 14 to 17, 2011.

The Eden Garden, dubbed ‘cricket’s counterpart to the Colosseum,’ was where VVS Laxman hit a magnificent 281 in the India-Australia Test match in 2001. The legendary inning still holds the record for the highest tally on the field.

Eden Gardens features a slower-paced side pitch that is ideal for batting and supporting spin bowlers without any trouble.

Top 7: Eden Park Cricket Stadium, New Zealand

With a seating capacity of 42,000 people for sports such as cricket, it is New Zealand’s biggest stadium. It has been the base of the national professional cricket team since 1903, three years after it was founded.

Following its refurbishment, it is now one of the best-lit venues in the world for one-day internationals and day-night matches. This is the place where Indian cricket great Sachin Tendulkar made his ODI debut. Eden Park may have witnessed some of New Zealand’s worst days in cricket.

Stadiums of Memories and Excitement

Cricket stadiums have a long history, with thousands of fans cheering on their favorite club and players at every event. The nail-biting action in cricket is undeniable. However, betting at the top cricket betting sites has the same intensity as if you were at the stadium watching your favorite team compete.
