It has been alleged that the gang members that murdered the deceased did so because he insulted them when they were competing in a rap battle.
A woman who had a part in the murder of a man in Houston, Texas, by members of a rival gang who thought they had been insulted during a rap fight was sentenced to thirty years in prison for her actions.
District Attorney for Harris County, Texas, Kim Ogg, said on Friday that 24-year-old Karla Jackelin Morales entered a guilty plea to charges of murder in connection with the death of 24-year-old Jose Alfonso Villanueva on July 29, 2018. Morales was charged in connection with the killing of Villanueva. The trial for Morales was scheduled to begin in October 2021, but she jumped bail and removed her ankle monitor to escape detection. Eventually, she was apprehended in Houston eight to nine months after she fled the city.
“This defendant skipped bail in 2021 in an attempt to avoid the consequences of her actions, but she was re-arrested, and on the eve of trial this week, she pleaded guilty for what she did,” Ogg said. “This week, the trial is scheduled to begin.” In this case, we were able to bring justice to the victim’s family, a crime that had been properly planned and carried out.
