Sinha started her career in the film business as a costume designer, working on films such as Mera Dil Leke Dekho in 2005. Her debut film role was in Dabangg, a 2010 film starring Salman Khan. It finally became the highest-grossing film of 2010 and a box office mainstay. To portray the role of a village girl, Sinha had to lose 30 kg.
A well-known film critic, Taran Adarsh, said of her performance, “Sonakshi Sinha looks fresh, acts confidently, and pairs off very well with Salman.” Despite a strong supporting cast, she manages to communicate the required emotions and never gets lost in the noise.
