Manchester City Legend Sergio Aguero has questioned Manchester City’s decision to sell Raheem Sterling to Premier League rival Chelsea.
The Manchester City all-time goal scorer spends six years with Raheem Sterling at Manchester City. The duo won three Premier League titles, FA Cup, and four Carabao Cup together at Etihad.
Raheem became the first major signing under new Chelsea owners following his £47 million move to Chelsea. Sterling signed five years contract with Chelsea and is now the club’s highest-paid player with a weekly salary of £325,000.
The 27-year-old English international scored his goal for Chelsea in their 3-1 win over Udinese. Raheem Sterling is the only Manchester City striker who is having a great pre-season at their new club.
Manchester City had also sold Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal. Jesus and Zinchenko had settled in at Arsenal perfectly. The two were involve Arsenal’s 4-0 win over Chelsea and 6-0 stamping of Seville.
The Brazil international has scored seven goals in five matches for Arsenal so far including a hat trick against Seville.
Sergio Aguero believes that his former club somethings makes “strange decisions”.
What did Sergio Aguero Say about Manchester City’s decision to sell Raheem Sterling?
The Manchester City all-time goalscorer speaking on his Twitch channel said: “I don’t understand the sale of Sterling.
“There are times they (City) make strange decisions.”
The former Argentina international had already hinted that Manchester City will miss Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus but insisted that Erling Haaland will thrive at Manchester City.
Sergio Aguero wrote on his blog for stake.com, saying: “Both players (Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus) were important in the City scheme. I’m sure City will miss them a lot as they are great players.
“There will be a new make-up of the attack but this is a team with a great squad that will be ready for new challenges.”
On Erling Haaland, he added: “I think that an elite player like him will know how to reconcile his style with that of Pep’s teams.
“It may take a while, as it did in the beginning for me. But once he gets into gear everything will be simpler. I think he has the talent to fulfill what is asked of him, which are goals.”
Former Arsenal and England playmaker Paul Merson believes Manchester City is making a big mistake in selling Raheem Sterling.
Paul Merson said on SkySports via Blue Footy, saying: “I would worry about Man City selling Sterling as you’re selling lots of goals. People always go to me; ‘He’s always at the far post tapping them in’.
“He’s not pushing anybody out the way to tap those goals in. There’s an art to what he does.
“He will be a massive miss to Man City next season if he leaves. If Chelsea went and got him, then that would be a major signing as they’re getting a top-quality international footballer, who is at one of the top teams in the world.”
Raheem Sterling is expected to make his official debut against Everton in the Premier League.
