Police said a shooting occurred at the Poplar-White Station library in East Memphis on Thursday afternoon, leaving one person dead and one Memphis police officer in “very critical condition.”
At 12:32 on Thursday, the Memphis Police Department (MPD) responded to a call at the neighborhood public library, according to police.
The police officer was taken in critical condition to Regional One Hospital. At the scene, authorities declared the other person dead.
The officer is, according to MPD, in “very critical condition.” The specifics of what happened before the fatal gunshot have not been made public.
