Rod Wave began his musical career in 2016 by releasing his mixtape “Hunger Games Vol. 1.” He signed with Alamo Records after releasing several independent mixtapes. In June of 2019, he released a mixtape entitled “PTSD.” It featured “Heart on Ice,” which went viral on TikTok and YouTube and peaked at number 25 on the “Billboard Hot 100.”
After a few months, he released his debut album, “Ghetto Gospel.” It reached number ten on the US “Billboard 200.” He then began production on his second album, “Pray 4 Love,” which he released in April 2020. The album placed at #2 on the “Billboard 200.” In August of that year, he issued a deluxe edition of the record. Numerous songs from the album debuted on the “Billboard Hot 100.” Wave was also named to the “XXL” 2020 Freshman Class list, which features upcoming hip-hop acts.
Wave spent the majority of the rest of 2020 working on his third album. In March 2021, he unveiled the track list for the album, which he titled “SoulFly.” Soon later, he published the album. “Tombstone” became his most successful single, landing at number 11 on the “Hot 100.” He received the Top New Artist Award at the Billboard Music Awards 2021.
