Manchester United confirmed the appointment of the Dutchman earlier today on their website.
The 52 years old has signed a 3-year contract with Manchester United. Ten Hags will join The Red Devils at the end of the season, he has won two Eredivisie titles and two Dutch cups (they could win a third this season).
The Red Devils have failed to win the Premier League ever since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013, the best they came closer was in 2017 with Jose Mourinho when they finished second behind Manchester City.
Manchester United is likely to miss out on a top-four finish this season after they were beaten by Liverpool at Anfield yesterday in the Premier League.
The Manchester United Legend could not hide his excitement on the appointment of the Dutchman as the Boss of Old Trafford next season.
Ferdinand’s reaction to Ten Hag Appointment?
Ferdinand said on the Vibe with Five YouTube channel:‘Am I happy? Yes, I’m happy it’s done, I’m happy it’s announced and that we’ve got some direction now.
‘He knows how to win, albeit in Holland. Everything I’ve been hearing about him is really positive.
‘What he needs is time, guys. Give this guy time to go out there and get through a good couple of transfer windows.
‘He needs to reshape the squad and create a Ten Hag squad to get United back to winning things or at least challenging for the Premier League and Champions League.’
Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has also expressed his excitement about the appointment of Erik Ten Tag via MUTV
‘I’m very excited the club has made the decision so now we all know.
We know what he has done for Ajax, he has nearly been in a Champions League final, won titles and he develops very good players, young players.
‘I think he plays very good football, very offensive, attractive football, and keeps the ball.
‘It’s good to know he is already watching the games and thinking about what he can do to change for us. I’m looking forward to working under him.
The Spanish international has also claimed that the Manchester United players are focused on securing a top-four finish this season.
The Red Devils are currently sixth on the Premier League table three points behind fourth and fifth place Tottenham and Arsenal.
They now face Arsenal on Saturday knowing perfectly well that a win over Arsenal could send them to the top four spots.
De Gea said: ‘We have to be focused on the last games and the fight for the top four. We have a very important game on Saturday against Arsenal.
‘It is for me like a final. We have to take the three points [otherwise] the top four is done. Let’s be focused and win the game.’
