Manchester United is expected to sign a striker during the summer. The Red Devils are in excellent form under Erik Ten Hag. United are third in the Premier League, just five points behind League Leaders Arsenal.
United are also on the course of winning their first major trophy in five years when they face Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup during the weekends. Manchester United are also challenging for the Europa Cup and will welcome Barcelona at Old Trafford in the second leg of the Europa League playoff.
The Red Devils did not sign any striker on a permanent deal during the winter transfer. Manchester United is expected to sign a world-class striker in the summer following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen are the top strikers expected to seek a big-money move during the summer.
However, Ex-Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has revealed he would prefer Manchester United sign Victor Osimhen because of his age but insisted that either striker can turn Manchester United into genuine title contenders.
What did Rio Ferdinand?
The Former England and Manchester United defender said on BT Sport: “I think if I were talking about investing and looking after my money, I’d probably go for Osimhen.
“There’s resale value with his age at 24 years old. It’s gonna be a huge outlay.”
He also added he would be delighted if Manchester United signed either Victor Osimhen or Harry Kane.
Ferdinand added: “I’d take either. I’ve got to be honest with you, if Manchester United add either of those two players you mentioned to their roster, they become title contenders,’ Ferdinand continued.
“On form, he’s [Osimhen] flying. You’ve got Rashford and him, who are absolutely flying in terms of form.
“But when you talks about the best players in the world, the Mbappe’s of this world are still levels above.”
Meanwhile, Newcastle United right-back Kieran Trippier has revealed that four Manchester United players have impressed him this season.
Manchester United and Newcastle United would go toe to toe this weekend in the finals of the Carabao Cup at Wembley.
Speaking ahead of the Carabao Finals, England and Newcastle right-back Kieran Trippier has revealed the four Manchester United players that have been exceptional this season.
He told Chronicle Live: “I know Marcus very well.
“I’m really happy for him because I’ve always known how unbelievable he is, and he’s certainly hit some form. But it’s not about one individual – you’ve got Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, and Luke Shaw, who’s been unbelievable this season as well.
“We can’t be too focused on them. Obviously, we need to review them, of course, but we need to focus on how we can hurt them. We want to go into that final to win. That’s our only priority.”
