Chelsea to be without two key attacking players again for Newcastle

The international break is still in full flow, but we’re already looking ahead to this weekend’s game against Newcastle. That’s perhaps especially wise given that it’s the early kick off, so there’s even less time than usual to let players recover. Two who look set to be out no matter when the game is played are Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic. The Athletic have today reported that neither are going to feature – at least from the start – against the Magpies. Kai Havertz has completed his self-isolation after being diagnosed with coronavirus, but has lost enough fitness over a two week period that he won’t be ready to play this weekend. Christian Pulisic on the other hand has a more serious problem. He faces another “week or two” on the sidelines apparently, which is pretty terrible news as the Blues look to avoid tiring out poor Timo Werner, who played again for Germany last night.
