Speaking to attendees at the event, RFK Jr. said he had spoken with every other contender about “dampening down the rhetoric” in order to promote national unity.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent presidential candidate, has refuted rumors that he looked for work in a Democratic administration.
This week, Kennedy was charged with contacting Vice President Kamala Harris’s team and the Democratic presidential contender, Elizabeth Warren, to explore potential collaboration on a future Cabinet. The Washington Post reported on the accusation.
“That information is false. While I have contacted all the candidates, I did not specifically ask Kamala Harris to be on the Cabinet. Kennedy informed participants during his live-streamed “TikTok Town Hall” event, “I’ve met with some.”
The independent presidential candidate said that he has met with every other contender in the race, making particular reference to his meeting with Chase Oliver of the Libertarian Party.
“I wanted to meet with all the candidates to talk about dampening down the rhetoric and unifying our country and also talk about some of the issues — ending the wars, et cetera.”
If “a lot of different changes” weren’t implemented, Kennedy expressed doubts about his ability to lead a Harris-Walz government.
“The other candidates have met with me, Kamala Harris has said she doesn’t want to,” Kennedy stated. “I believe it would be tough for me to work with their administration unless they committed to a lot of different changes.”
Kennedy, whose unlikely presidential bid suffered earlier this week when a judge declared his name should not be on the New York ballot, reportedly approached Harris about meeting in the hopes of securing a possible Cabinet secretary post in her administration, according to a report published in the Washington Post on Wednesday.
Earlier this month, at the Milwaukee convention, Kennedy was captured on camera chatting with the former president Trump, at which time the latter seemed to make references to possible roles in his government.
However, the report points out that Kennedy has persisted in running for office and making frequent appearances in the media with the hope of winning the election, even though he has left open the prospect of meeting with or obstructing Harris or Trump should they share an openness regarding his vision for the nation.
According to polls, Kennedy has the broadest appeal and the most devoted following of any independent candidate in decades.
