Rep. Gary Palmer tells Fox News Digital, ‘Biden’s entire administration has been a vacation from reality.’
Republican politicians are slamming President Biden for vacationing in the Caribbean with his family while the border issue threatens to escalate.
Biden is ringing in the New Year on the US Virgin Island of St. Croix. He arrived in Washington on Wednesday, amid tense deliberations about how to deal with the record number of illegal immigrants crossing the border.
Border towns and sanctuary cities, such as New York City, are experiencing infrastructure strain as a result of the influx of people. According to Fox News, there have already been over 276,000 migrant interactions in December, making it the busiest month on record.
“President Biden’s entire presidency has been a vacation from reality — 760,000 illegal immigrants have been encountered at the border since October,” House GOP Policy Committee Chairman Rep. Gary Palmer, R-Ala., told Fox News Digital.
“This is deliberate, and it informs the American people of everything they need to know.” President Biden has no intention of intervening. Because this is the end he desires, he will continue to vacation while the border burns.
“President Biden’s dereliction of duty is on full display while he sits on the beach and ignores the thousands of illegal immigrants invading our country daily,” Texas Rep. Randy Weber told Fox News Digital. “America as we know it will be unrecognizable unless this administration comes to the table, starts enforcing the laws and stops the flow of illegal immigrants.”
Rep. Mark Alford, R-Texas, said Biden and his staff “should be ashamed” of the situation of the immigration problem in the United States.
“We continue to see record-breaking encounters at our southern border every month.” Instead of working on solutions, Joe Biden is on vacation,” Alford told Fox News Digital. “Mr. President, the entire world is watching you. They notice that our borders are in disarray, and they blame your administration.
Another Texas Republican joked that Biden “might not see the problem from the beaches,” but it’s always present in Texas.
“Texans are seeing some of the highest numbers of illegal crossings on record, while the White House and Senate Democrats refuse to act,” said Rep. August Pfluger, R-Texas.
Since the start of the new fiscal year on Oct. 1, there have been almost 760,000 migrant interactions at the southern border, making the first quarter of fiscal 2024 the busiest quarter on record. Meanwhile, there have been 82,000 reported escapes since October 1.
It brings an end to a year at the southern border where numerous records have been broken time and time again, with the Border Patrol always overburdened by the volume of traffic it encounters.
Republicans have attributed the spike to administration actions, particularly the removal of Trump-era measures, but the administration maintains that it is facing a crisis on a hemispheric scale and that further funds and immigration reform legislation from Congress are necessary.
