ESPN sources report that Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal has agreed to a €90 million ($98.6 million) agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for Neymar.
ESPN reported on Sunday that Neymar was close to agreeing to personal terms with Al Hilal as the two clubs negotiated a transfer. He will now join Al Hilal on a two-year deal with a third-year option.
Neymar will join his new Al Hilal compatriots Kalidou Koulibaly, Ruben Neves, and Sergej Milinkovi-Savi, who all joined the club earlier this summer.
In June, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) acquired Al Hilal and Al Nassr, Al Ahli, and Al Ittithad as part of the country’s “Sports Clubs Investment and Privatization Project.”
Saudi Pro League clubs have pursued an aggressive recruitment strategy in this transfer window, offering lucrative contracts to some of the sport’s top talents.
Neymar became the most expensive footballer ever in 2017 when Paris Saint-Germain signed him from Barcelona for €222 million, a record he still retains.
Neymar’s departure from PSG concludes a tumultuous six-year tenure in the French capital, during which he frequently battled injuries and off-the-field issues.
Neymar has won five Ligue 1 titles and a total of 13 domestic trophies with PSG, in addition to finishing second in the 2020 Champions League final.
