The Clearwater, Florida, police department asserts that the weapon that was used by the victim was legally obtained.
Tuesday morning, a woman in Florida allegedly shot and killed a man who had broken into her bedroom while she was sleeping and attacked her. According to the police, the incident took place in Florida.
As the woman fought the intruder inside her home in the 1600 block of Flagler Drive in Clearwater, Florida, around 8:45 a.m., she contacted 911 from inside her home to report the incident, according to Chief Dan Slaughter of the Clearwater Police Department.
According to The News God, Slaughter claimed that the dispatcher heard the altercation before she could reach her gun, which she had legitimately acquired, and fire at least one shot.
“She was able to use that gun to defend herself, and fired one shot that resulted in the death of that intruder,” said Slaughter, adding that the early investigation appeared to suggest a case of self-defense.
