Hatun Tash’s lawyer stated that “this payment to Hatun is a rare acknowledgment by the police that they were incorrect.”

Police in the United Kingdom apologized and awarded a female Christian preacher £10,000 in damages after she disputed her frequent 2020 arrests.

According to a Friday release from the Christian Legal Centre, the Metropolitan Police in London admitted that they fell “below standards” in a recent letter to Hatun Tash, 40, who was unlawfully imprisoned twice while preaching at Speakers’ Corner in London’s Hyde Park.

“I would want to take this opportunity to apologize to you for the hardship that you have experienced as a result of these instances,” wrote Andy O’Donnell, Directorate of Professional Standards Civil Actions Unit, Metropolitan Police.
