Rep. Pramila Jayapal and Dana Bash dispute over Hamas terrorism against Israeli women.
Piers Morgan of FOX Nation visited “FOX & Friends” on Monday to discuss Rep. Pramila Jayapal’s failure to condemn Hamas violence against women. Morgan called the Seattle-area Squad Democrat’s effort to equate Israel and Hamas terrorists “contemptible.”
PIERS MORGAN: That was one of the most painful things I’ve ever seen. And I was watching it live, here in London, as the interview went on, and as it progressed, it became more painful and shameful because it was evident that she did not want to criticize what Hamas did to women on that day.
And there was a massive piece published over the weekend in The Sunday Times in London by Christina Lamb, one of the world’s best foreign correspondents. And the sheer, uncompromising, horrible facts of what she described on what happened to ladies that day, the countless rapes, killings, the appalling treatment of women singled out in many cases because they were women, and how many were abused horribly before being killed. And I felt it was disgraceful that another woman, a female politician, couldn’t bring herself to directly criticize it without attempting to draw some moral equivalency with Israel’s defense of itself after that terror assault.
CNN host Dana Bash argued with Democratic Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington on the lack of widespread condemnation of Hamas’ use of sexual violence against Israeli women during the Oct. 7 attacks.
“I’d like to ask you about sexual violence, and it’s remarkable that this issue hasn’t received enough attention on a global scale.” Hamas’s widespread use of rape, severe rape, and sexual assault against Israeli women. I’ve seen a lot of progressive women who are ready to defend women’s rights and speak out against using rape as a weapon of war, but who are completely mute on what happened on October 7. And what is happening to these hostages inside Gaza right now? “How come?” Bash inquired.
“However, we must keep in mind that Israel is a democracy.” That is why they are such an important ally of ours. And if they do not follow international humanitarian law, they are putting themselves in a position where it will be much more difficult for them to attract allies and keep public opinion on their side, and honestly, we cannot claim that one war crime merits another. “International humanitarian law does not say that,” Jayapal stated.
“With all due respect, I was just asking about the women, and you changed the subject to Israel.” “I’m curious about Hamas,” Bash replied.
Jayapal sparked controversy when she said, “We have to be balanced” with criticism.
“That rape is horrifying to me.” Sexual assault is heinous. I believe it occurs in combat settings, and terrorist organizations such as Hamas clearly use these as tools. However, I believe we must be cautious in bringing in the outrages against Palestinians.”
